What we do

The app logs meals and keeps a daily calorie and macro target. You can photograph a plate or scan a barcode. The website is the public companion: free nutrition calculators, guides, and a food calorie chart with USDA FoodData Central IDs. The calculators on this site do not require the app.

Store listings, checked against the public store records we keep in the site config: the App Store name isMyPlate: Calorie Deficit App, version 3.0.2, rated 4.7 from 24 ratings. Google Play lists MyPlate: AI Food Tracker, Log. The publisher is K-UBE LLC.

How the calculators get a number

Resting energy uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation (Mifflin et al., American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 1990). Total daily energy expenditure multiplies that estimate by an activity factor. A weight-loss target subtracts a deficit from TDEE. The deficit pages cite the NHS pace of about 0.5 to 1 kg a week and the usual low-calorie range described by MedlinePlus. Protein pages cite the ISSN position stand where they give a gram-per-kilogram range. Food tables that name an FDC ID use values retrieved from USDA FoodData Central, not rounded guesses.

Those equations are estimates. They are not a metabolic lab test, and they are not medical advice. If you are pregnant, under 18, or being treated for an illness, ask a clinician before you follow a deficit.

A note on the name

"MyPlate" is also the name of the USDA nutrition guide at myplate.gov. This app is an independent product by K-UBE. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the USDA.MyPlate app vs USDA MyPlate sets the two side by side.

Livestrong's MyPlate Calorie Tracker is a third product. It was discontinued on 9 July 2023. We are not Livestrong and we do not have their old accounts.Livestrong MyPlate alternative explains that split.

Who's behind it
